Valve giving TF2 in-game item to Left 4 Dead 2 buyers

As we’ve recently been informed via Steam’s spiffy Instant Messaging spam, TF2 owners will receive a ’spiffy’ TF2 hat if they pre-purchase Left 4 Dead 2. The hat, like all the other ones in TF2, will be wearable.

Unusually, this hat (like 3 others already have been) is specially receivable only for people who, in any way, pre-purchase L4D2. If they already own the pre-purchased game, they will now retrieve the TF2 update and the hat as well.

This is clearly just another marketing tactic for people who don’t actually want L4D2, but are fascinated from various extras they’ll get for the pre-purchase. Just another cheesy advertising attempt for a game more controversial than life itself.
